Nice work and I agree with a lot of your ideas, minor tweaks aside. I would only add that I think that Richmond Heights needs to either completely merge with one of its neighbors or be split up with the northern/western portion going to Euclid and the southern/eastern portion going with Lyndhurst or Highland Heights.

Insert "you didn't get rid of Parma" joke here.

And Beachwood would be better with Pepper Pike or Orange or both, IMO. Include Lyndhurst with Richmond Heights and Highland Heights.

Not that it matters, but in my opinion Beachwood's population density and street layout has less in common with Pepper Pike and Orange and more in common with some of its other neighbors. Beachwood seems to be the last of the second-ring suburbs with walkable neighborhoods before the sea of cul-de-sacs begin in the Orange/Solon communities.

Ouch, that's not saying much for Cleveland. The cons far outweigh the benefits.

Cleveland can't support itself and would love for the suburbs to support them. The suburbs are, obviously, less keen on the idea.

I like to follow this story.

The suburbs that, you know, only exist and have the means to prosper because there's a major city there.

It drives me up a wall when people refuse to acknowledge that there's clearly a symbiotic relationship between suburbs and their city. It doesn't mean a consolidation is necessarily appropriate, or smart, or fair, but please, at least admit that the suburbs aren't just these freestanding bastions of wealth and success before we have these kinds of discussions.

And this is pretty much the case for every city in America. Even Northern Virginia, despite its gains, is still a suburb of Washington DC. Not that it is without its own industries but I doubt the appeal would be the same if Washington DC didn't exist. But you know this is C-D; if people weren't arriving at such conclusions none of these threads would exist.

Northern Virginia would, IMO, be completely different if it weren't for Washington, D.C. and the wealth that the Federal government and all of its contractors and associated industries bring to the area.
