Hello. I'm curious as to what the area that the Agora Theater is in is like. I'm going to a show there on March 8, I've been to Cleveland before, but in more of a residential area(47th street). I've heard that the venue allows the line to wait inside, is there any truth to this? I'm also looking for a nice hotel in a good area that's fairly cheap, I checked out University Hotel and Suites(3 blocks from the Agora). Thanks.

The Agora is in what is known as Midtown, which is more of an industrial area. There are really no hotels in that immediate area, but as its name suggests, it is midway between Downtown and University Circle, both of which have many hotel options. There is a 24 hour bus-rapid transit that runs down Euclid between Downtown and University Circle, with a stop right in front of the Agora, so you could take that from your hotel to the concert and back.

Is the area sketchy? What about the area that University H&S is in?

I wouldn't say that area is particularly sketchy; as I said, it's mostly industrial, so it's pretty quiet at night, but just use some street smarts. Don't wander off too far from the building, stay with a group. You should be fine. As for the hotel, based on tripadvisor reviews, I would stay far away from that hotel. That area is also a bit sketchier. If you're looking for something affordable, I would try the Comfort Inn, or Holiday Inn Express.

The University Hotel and Suites is a flophouse. Don't stay there. There are dozens of hotels downtown and several more uptown (University Circle) which are great. If you want to do more partying after the show, stay downtown. If you're looking for super cheap, try The Cleveland Hostel in Ohio City. You can buy a day pass for the RTA for $5 and take the rapid (train) to the Euclid BRT which would drop you off in front of the Agora. Ohio City is a great neighborhood to party in as well.

As for the area, the only thing I wouldn't is walk south on E. 55th by yourself at night. As stated above, the area adjacent to the Agora is pretty quiet.
