I have always been drawn to Shaker but the commute didn't make sense for us, so we settled on River. I totally can relate to not wanting to engage in a bidding war!!
Congrats and thanks for updating!

Congrats!

Our home goes on the market in about 3 weeks. We'll have multiple offers for sure as it's absolutely crazy here in S. CA right now. We are looking to downsize ($$$) and buy a smaller home to offset the college expenses of 2 boys attending in 2 years. I know you mentioned taxes, but I am going to pay about 800k for an 1800 sq. ft. home with needed updates. Don't feel so bad. LOL

I wish I could convince my wife to take our $$$ and move to your area. Kids college tuition paid, home paid, and I could continue teaching with about zero financial stress.

Nope. My wife is never going to do that. Family in CA and weather. I have cousins in Solon, which would be very cool, but there is just no way to convince her. My son will be a senior next year in high school and was named editor of the yearbook and will do his 4th year on Mock Trial so that would not be fair- figured after he goes to college. Trying to get him a college in Ohio just to get there more often. Oberlin sent him a postcard!!!!

Maybe upon retirement? Hope to visit my cousins this summer and show her more of the lake area- we usually visit Solon and the Popcorn Shop in Chagrin, but not the communities on or near the lake. A home near us that was owned by a hoarder and needs to be demolished just went for 680K!!!!

Look up 93110 or 93105 zipcode and look what people will pay. It's crazy!!!

^^^ I'm very familiar as our family lives in the SF Bay Area and we are originally from thete. Prices for homes in decent areas are crazy.

Just returned from visit to San Ramon- was 102 degrees and 104 today! Older 60's track homes are closing for 700K. A friend in San Fran just sold a classy 5 story flat in the market district for about 8 million!!!! Unreal!

Luckily, I bought in '94 and moved up 4x. Thus, selling my home know gives me so much equity we'll be able to pay cash for a place that will allow us to spend my teaching salary on college tuition, minus any scholarships- fingers crossed!

I still plan to get to Lakewood, River Rock, and other areas near the lake this summer!!!!
