Highland Square should work fine for you. A commute from Tremont to Barberton would get very tiring come wintertime. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're very comfortable driving in the snow. As great as Tremont is, it's not worth the daily commute.

No problem.

Can anyone give the OP some insight on commute time heading south from Tremont to Barberton on I-77? Google Maps is telling him 35-40 mins but even though he would be going South in the morning IIRC there are still traffic issues out to about Independence. 35-40 mins seems more like off-peak timing to me. He should just bypass Akron's slow spots, though, I think, as I'm thinking he'll probably hit 21.

If you look at Parma as a backup, check out State Road. lots of bars bakeries pizza shops, butchers and ethnic stores. very safe walkable and close to downtown, zoo, ohio cty and tremont.

If the commute is truly between 35 and 40 minutes (as the current map says) than I would be very comfortable with that. I will run the maps during rush hour to see if it adjusts much. The weather and traffic do play a factor though.

Does anyone know if I-77 Southbound has more traffic from, say Tremont to 480 then it would from 480 south. A southern suburb like Parma could be an option then, but currently it doesn't shed much time from the commute so I still would want to stick with Tremont since it is the "more fun" area.

I am currently down between Tremont and Highlands Sqaure, but I won't know until I see them. Other than that I have been poking around a few suburbs online.

The convenience and cost of Highlands Square sounds great and it sounds like a nice neighborhood, but I will only be in this current position for roughly 18 months so I kind of want to see as much as I can before it is time to pack up and move again. It is a tough decision.

Not to knock Parma, but why? If you want to see and do as much as you can, that would be a weird place to choose as a young professional. Parma is fine, but it's not really a suburb that caters to young professionals, particularly one who asks about Tremont, Ohio City, or Highland Square in the same breath. Seems like a mismatch other than a compromise in geography.

Yeah, that makes sense. I was just thinking more along the lines of a backup rather than a compromise. If I couldn't find anything in those areas I could fall back on that area.

Tremont is your best bet. Driving from there to Barberton is a breeze. 30 to 35min tops. I used to live in Tremont while playing in a golf league in Barberton.

If you look hard enough, you will always be able to find an apartment in Tremont/Ohio City/etc. Just make sure you look at the place in person. Don't live in Parma. (Sorry for any Parma residents - just not the place for a young Cleveland newcomer.)
