This was the "right" move for him at this point in his career. His letter was mature, thoughtful and sincere.

Max, as someone who is not a Cavs fan (other than wishing them well) I have to question your basketball knowledge. There is no guarantee Irving/Wiggins would bring Cleveland a championship (and no guarantee now even with Lebron)...everyone was saying the same thing about OKC but they haven't been back to the Finals since trading Harden. Gilbert has a very poor track record (he just fired the GM who made this latest rebuild possible) and other than this latest move, the Cavs have never done anything other than be lucky in the draft. Plus the idea (stated in the other thread) that Lebron took the easy way out is also silly....when has a highly-sought FA, in any sport, chosen an Ohio team? Very few if any actually expected him to leave Miami.

I'm a Warriors fan, so can easily spot an owner & GM whose ambition is to build a champion vs only collect revenue. Dan Gilbert is not Jerry Buss or Pat Riley, I don't think I need to say anymore than that. Lebron wouldn't have left the first time if he had been given more support than Antwan Jamison and a broken-down Shaq. Kobe had to be confident he was playing for Buss, who had an immense history of getting the players he needed to win a trophy...and in return Bryant had Gasol, Artest, Odom, Fisher, etc to get him there. James just wants the same insurance, and not have a repeat of his previous stay in Cleveland.

Definitely a big deal with LJ return. Even though I was around when Cleveland won a championship I do not remember it. I have owned Browns PSLs since the 80s and would be happy to get rid of them but there hasn't been a market for them. I really believed I would not experience a CLE sports championship in my lifetime but with LJ return I believe it will happen. I am optimistic the Browns will continue to improve and become a winner. Finally the downtown bars, restaurants will be hopping on Cavs nights. I try to limit my visits to Cleveland in the winter but I likely will come up maybe 1-2 times more to catch a game..
