Beachwood is just like any other suburb located in xyz city, USA. Lots of chains and bland designs. I would stick with areas that are unique in Cleveland.

If you are going to the theatre district, please watch out for idiots standing under the Playhouse Square chandelier in the middle of the road to get their pictures taken underneath it. For some reason, those doing this think that traffic should yield to them....

Great advice from everyone. Razacla, not sure where you're from, but you may want to do a little research online about Cleveland. Also TripAdvisor is a great place to look as it's geared towards tourism. They have ratings of hotels, restaurants, activities and attractions, as well as a forum where you can ask questions.

As others have said, while not the powerhouse it was during the industrial revolution, steel, automotive, and oil boom years Cleveland is far from a death spiral.

Though he was born in New York John D. Rockefeller moved to Cleveland when he was about 13 and that's where he and his partners founded Standard Oil; making him (arguably) the wealthiest man in history. Much of Cleveland's cultural / artistic attractions where, are still funded by Standard Oil money / descendants.

The breweries I mentioned are in that area, as well.

Definitely take in a musical or some event in one of the beautiful Playhouse Square Theaters...

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is amazing if you are a music fan

Great Lakes Science Center is an okay science museum

Museam of Art and Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) fantastic

If you like classical music, then if you can, catch a performance of the World Renowned Cleveland Orchestra at beautiful Severance Hall

Explore the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (you can take a sightseeing train to Hale Farm and Village if your a history buff and interested in how frontier life was in the early 1800s when the Western Reserve {NE Ohio} was founded)

Checkout Ohio City, The Warehouse District and E 4th Stree Downtown for great party areas (lots of good bars and restaurants).

If you are at any of the museums in University Circle, then go up Murray into Little Italy...eat dinner at one of the amazing family run Italian restaurants there...and then get some Canolis from Presti's Bakery.

If it's your thing, check out "The Christmas Story" House in Tremont...it has the Leg Lamp in the window even...Tremont has a lot of great restaurants and galleries too.

If you like looking at huge old classy mansions, driver out through Shaker Heights and along Fairmount in Cleveland Heights

Go Downtown...check out the old Arcades...go to the Casino...if it's open, check out the observation deck at the Terminal Tower.

If you enjoy amusement parks...take a day to drive 1 hr west to Cedar Point.

If you are a football fan, go south to Canton and check out the Pro Football Hall of Fame...you can also see the William McKinley Memorial and the First Ladies Museum.

You can also go to Lakeview Cemetary (above Little Italy) and check out the President Garfield Memorial...Lakeview Cemetary would probably be quite beautiful w/ the fall colors.

So if Beachwood Place, Legacy Village, Eton Mall, Granite City, Red, Moxie, Sushi Rock, Maggiano's, Ho Wah, The Cheesecake Factory, Corky And Lenny's, The Melting Pot, and the countless number of restaurants and stores in Beachwood, were in another neighborhood like Euclid or Cleveland Heights, then would it be boring?

Don't forget all of the bums that ask for money around Playhouse Square.

These are all amazing suggestions! This forum NEVER disappoints when I travel and I ALWAYS take in the advice given on here - I don't think I have DVDs strayed and I've always left happy! I am super interested in this Westside Market. I am from the "Chicago area" so though some of this we have, MOST seems unique to Cleveland and I am now VERY MUCH looking forward to visiting!
