I think it's more of a rural vs. city thing. It's true that SOME people out in the Texan countryside are very friendly, and course, you'll get a mix of people wherever you go but overall the whole friendliness thing is a myth or it no longer exists.

BTW, I worked out in the Texas hill country for a couple of years and some of the people are very nasty and rude. That's why I had to put 'some' in all caps haha
I think the friendliness of the South and Texas in particular are way over rated. I think folks from the Midwest and Mountain West are much nicer.

People from Northern Ohio are the nicest I have ever met.

The grass is always greener...

I find myself missing certain things about California, mainly the food and weather, but I don't miss the rat race, cost of living, having to work two jobs. Better overall QOL in Ohio, people are easier to talk with, more free time to enjoy life outside of work.

Default Nice People in Cleveland

Brought my wife here from New Jersey. Besides not understanding why life was still ongoing normally after a snowfall with piles half-way up telephone poles, she did not understand why strangers would approach her in the grocery store with small talk. Everybody talks to you when you are out and about. She was concerned at first, because if they did that in New Jersey she figured she was about to get raped or robbed! No, this is just the way it is in Cleveland. People here are just plain friendly.

Not always a good thing, IMO. Sometimes I would just prefer to be left alone.

You only need worry about that in Cleveland proper. Cleveland people are extremely friendly and outgoing. However, people in most of the suburbs..........not so much!

I really don't know what you're referring to. I find it much more likely for someone to talk to you in Cleveland Heights than Ohio City. Are we talking about far flung suburbs?

Yes, I would agree with that. Far flung more affluent berbs like Westlake, Hudson, etc.
