Hello All:

I do apologize if this has been beaten to death- are there any southern or west side suburbs that have walkable downtown areas?

I have been trying to think of some, but keep coming up short of places other than Amherst or Berea.

Thanks,

Rodeno

I haven't been there in several years, but Medina has the most beautiful downtown/public square that I remember seeing in Greater Cleveland. It's surprisingly large.

Main Street Medina - Home

Oberlin also has a nice pubic square, but Oberlin College buildings dominate several sides of the square.

Lakewood, Elyria, and Lorain. Rocky River somewhat around Detroit by the Lakewood border.

Like Clevelander17 said, Brecksville is wonderful. I live 5 minutes from downtown Brecksville and it is a very nice downtown area. Small, but nice. Last weekend they just lit all their Christmas lights in the square and it's beautiful.

Hudson is also very nice.

Peninsula has a little bit of a downtown to it.

I believe Hudson does too. (not sure if you consider that a southern suburb).

Medina does have a great one. ON the east side, I love Chagrin Falls downtown.

Cleveland Heights has multiple "downtown" districts: Coventry, Cedar-Fairmount and Cedar-Lee being the largest. Taylor Rd and Mayfield-Lee also deserve consideration.

In Shaker Hts, the closest thing to a downtown is probably Chagrin-Lee-Avalon-Van Aken... Shaker Sq. is downtown-ish, but is just over the border inside Cleveland (although many people, even locals, mistakenly think Shaker Square is in Shaker Heights).
