I am looking into buying one of the townhomes on Chester Parkway (Woodhaven Townhomes) near Cleveland Clinic. I've heard the area around here is kind of rough, but i've also been told that these townhomes are in a community in of itself so I do not have to worry. Would ya'll be able to comment on the safety of this area? Is the city trying to improve this area like they are with University Circle? Would I have a hard time reselling this home in a few years?

Check out trulia's crime map:

<a href="http://www.trulia.com/for_sale/My%20Custom%20Area__mqi%7CFnofqN0000Ise%400000pMY0 000u%40lf%400000_sp/16_zm/41.49581478307869,41.508494258880546,-81.64426490956691,-81.60986826115993_xy/map_v/tiles:1%7Cpoints:1_crime">Trulia Crime Map</a>

For some reason I on my browser at least, it defaults to another area of the map so zoom back out and into the area you are looking at. The townhomes look nice but just remember there is a lot of crime all around you. If you are ok with that and will take precautions to be safe in the area, then I say go for it. The fact that it is a good neighborhood in a not so good part of town may even help you negotiate a lower price for the property.

Good luck to you!

I used to live in University Circle area and am somewhat familiar.

There is a ton of investment in the area occurring along Chester:

- 170 unit apartment complex with retail Innova | Apartments in Cleveland, OH
- Case Western Reserve University's new medical school Building the Future of Medicine | CWRU + Cleveland Clinic
- Health Tech Corridor | A Strategic Location For Innovation

Also the new Cleveland Police station has recently been built at Chester and E.55 Cleveland breaks ground for $16.8 million police station (video) | cleveland.com

With that said, the area is still improving. The surrounding neighborhoods still need clean up...but may also means the property value will be in an upswing. The surrounding institutions all expanding rapidly with hundreds of millions $$$ in expansion (and certainly not going away).

Personally I would live there. The proximity to Downtown, University Circle, and Cleveland Clinic cannot be beat.
