I had my first winter ever here this past year. My wife and I are from San Diego are very much summer people. Never been in temperatures below 50 for longer than a few hours (cold desert mornings) so moving here was quite a shock as you can imagine. Honestly? We both wish it was winter. Not sure if it was our first one or if we really enjoyed but it I liked it very much. I would preface that with saying that the snow in February built up a little too much for me on the East side with nowhere to put it. We'll have to see how more winters treat us and see if we feel the same way.

I visited CLE over the Fourth and it looks like I picked the 4 best days of Summer to visit. Got flight yesterday afternoon right when the gulley washer was coming in...

Just spent 4th weekend in Cleveland, as hubby has job there (commuting from Dallas currently). The weather was beautiful!! Of course, now I feel like Cleveland has "tricked" me, and when we officially move next year - it's going to be all gray and rainy. But I'm looking forward to at least one season of snow and sledding. By year 2, I'm sure I'll start whining.

You moved for 90+ degree, humid as hell weather so you can spend the majority of your time in air conditioned spaces? Brilliant.

Not really. The cumulative amount of time I spend doing it each winter doesn't even amount to one session of lawn mowing (of which there are around 30 of) in the summer. Someone who isn't an absolute pansy doesn't think a thing of it.

No need to deflect to a place that got even more snow (Boston) in an attempt to down play NEO winter.
Why not? The point that there are many places which have much harsher winters than Cleveland is a valid one.

No, he moved there I bet because he got tired of scraping ice off his windows, dealing with potholes, hitting black ice, only being able to drive his sports car 8 months a year.....etc, etc.

He probably typed that message from the beach after going for a swim in the Atlantic.

Has the water in Lake Erie even been warm enough yet this summer to swim in?

Yep. Because everyone prefers the threat of heatstroke on a daily basis to go with the perpetual aroma of insecticide.

Or, from his single-wide...

It has been for weeks. No shark or gator attacks to be reported either.

A heat stroke... I lived in the Deep South for 4 years and a heat stroke wasn't anything that I ever heard or saw happen to anyone I knew. The stuff I described about Cleveland winter above however....I've dealt with first hand. There are 10% less in FL than OH who are obese and unhealthy, so you are more likely to see people suffer from a stoke in Ohio than FL.

Better to be in a single wide in Tampa that to boast about a double wide in cleveland with an overhang for keeping the 4-wheeler dry....

Good to hear about Lake Erie. I might have to head over to headlands next weekend when I'm in Mentor.
