Hello everyone so after a few posts here, spending a week in a hotel with pressure to find a place I decided against shaker heights and Cleveland heights because I wanted to be closer to the downtown urban area even though it means a longer commute to work. Myself and partner found a town home I'm the Detroit shore way-Ohio city area that honestly looks like **** from the outside but the owner completely remodeled the inside. Now the issue is our home is right on the corner and we have noticed cars parked maybe 20 feet from our home and pretty certain drug dealers going in and out the car in less than 5 minutes. We live on a quiet one way street so they probably advise the cars to park on my street. The drug dealers are pretty much the same characters and they seem to operate/live out of 3 properties next and across the street from one another. I tried calling the cops one time they never showed. My question should I further pursue this with cops ??? These folks could be gang related and they haven't messed with anyone in my household but I fear if something happens to my car or God forbid sometype of shooting breaks out. Should I leave this alone or report this hoping I can remain anonymous ???

Just wanted to add I'm a few blocks from the happy dog 58/Detroit and I love the ability to walk to the shops, restaurants, playhouses, and theatres in the neighborhood. But seems I'm just on a bad corner. Thanks for your advice.

If you're worried that drug dealing is going on and are in fear, I wouldn't hesitate to call the police! My family comes before everything and if that was happening on my street, I'd be worried about their safety.

I had the same experience when I lived in Portland. I called the cops. No one knew I had reported it because it was kept anonymous. I would say go ahead and do it.

Drug activity calls tend to be put far down the list for police, since neither people nor property are necessarily in immediate danger. Nonetheless, you should keep calling (police resources are distributed to different wards depending on the volume of calls), and if possible call your city council person to report the problem house(s). Drug busts take awhile, but they do clean up the neighborhood, and that can only happen if you report the problem.

I had a friend who lived in Tremont 15 years ago before it became nice. He had an exact same similar story. He told me he would call the police every single time he suspected something, the repetition caused it to finally go away. Either they were caught or decided to move to a different location.

So on that note, I would highly encourage you to continue to call the police every single night until this goes away.

Sorry to hear about this!

This is the reason why before renting or buying one should check-out the area at different times, especially in the evening prior to committing. Three drug houses right around you is not good. Easily could see a shooting/s and other collateral crime from this.
