Real quickly, I have been thinking about moving from Nashville to Cleveland for a while now. What always stops me....are there jobs to be had there in Cleveland, and can I make a decent living there??

There is never a job shortage it seems in Nashville, but I should clarify, I have animals and can Not live in the city...so I always find myself living farther out than I would like and having to deal with people who are still stuck believing in Civil War ideologies, never seem to be honest with you, and it is always difficult to have someone help you even for the most basic thing. I really don't mean to offend anyone, but I have to get out of the south...it is just not a good fit and has been that way since the first day I moved here.

Anyways, I have been looking about 30-40 mins outside of Cleveland. To me that is not a far drive at all, I'm doing double that now and with traffic here it is longer. Because Nashville has gotten so popular, what I could rent 4 years ago about 30 minutes to downtown has tripled in price so I am living way farther out. Literally homes that would have sold for 75k a 2 years ago are at 110-150k and people are paying it because there is such a home shortage here. Whereas the housing market is a Steal there! But again, after I buy this steal of a house am I going to be able to keep it? Jobs??

I have been trying to research the job growth there before taking the leap but struggling to find any real conclusive information.

To me, Cleveland has everything I have been looking for. Music, lots of horse events, culture, 4 seasons(I am from snow county and miss it), be able to go outside in the summer(a lot of people here in the South just hide all summer long, it is such a waste), And it is not too far from the east coast for future business.

Anyways.....what do you guys think?? You know your city better than anyone, so I would love some advice here!
Thanks
J

We did it. Nashville to a suburb of Cleveland. The day to day living is so much better for us here.

Plenty of jobs in the Cleveland area, it will depend upon what your career path is. In some careers, the Cleveland market will be better than Nashville, for other careers not so much. Go to indeed.com and do a search. You may even think of going on some phone interviews.

Nashville is a reasonably cool place, but their infrastructure leaves little to be desired. The population is not dense, so a lot of people spend a lot of time in their cars -- typical of the new-era, southern city-county structure. If you can live and work in or near downtown, you'll probably like it there. Otherwise, prepare to hate life for 3-4 hours a day.
