Was just curious about what new things will
be accessible to check out in the city in 2017 that I can follow/keep up with that were not here this past summer. This includes openings, streetscape improvements/transit, buildings, or addition to trails/anything else worth note. My understanding of the timeline for the Towpath is that even the bridge that goes down from Tremont to the remaining section will be completed by 2017, is this actually true? If so, THAT will be HUGE. Thanks all!

Perhaps the most transformative project scheduled for completion in 2017 is the new Case Western Reserve Greenway.

Keep your eye on the Cleveland Museum of Natural History's transformation project. Maybe something will open there in 2017.

BTW, reading the above article, why did Cleveland ever abandon the name Erie St. for East 9th St. or Seneca Street for West 3rd???

Some improvements at the Detroit Ave./West 25th Street project are scheduled to open in 2017.

I don't think the Wendy Park Bridge will be completed until 2018. If you have other information, please post it.

Given your Lake County focus, perhaps check out the new observation tower at Lake Metroparks Lake Erie Bluffs park or the improvements in Painesville at Lake Metroparks' Beaty Landing, offering easy and convenient access to the Grand River Valley gorge from its new lower level parking lot. Most persons in Lake County, even the Painesville area, don't know in my experience that Beaty Landing even is in existence, let alone about its recently completed improvements providing access just before the Rt. 84 (East Walnut Street/Riverside Drive) bridge.

The less-wooded Grand River Conservation Area also in Painesville across the East Main St. Bridge from Kiwanis Recreation Park is more beautiful IMO than Beaty Landing, but because the Grand River Valley widens there to form Painesville's "Flats," the conservation area doesn't offer the same perspective on the steepness of the Grand River gorge as does Beaty Landing, where the river runs right below the river's east bank cliff. Beaty Landing, however, should be very beautiful in the next week given the late arrival of fall colors and its steep wooded slope and upper level observation area.

One thing to ponder when visiting either Beaty Landing or the Grand River Conservation Area is the 500-year flood that buried the area under 20 feet of water just a decade ago. The water was up to the roof level of two-story condos which once sat on the lower level of the conservation area site, and up to second-floor windows of condos built further up the valley slope.

The flooding was most intense overnight and not well reflected in the following report pictures.

The unique, steeply sloped Casement Golf Course was destroyed by the flood, never to re-open, and boats from the marinas that line the Grand River, even the Pickle Bill's party carousel/bar barge was washed into Lake Erie.

The bridge in the following video likely is the Route 20 bridge east of Painesville.

I've often wondered if the Cuyahoga River Valley was vulnerable to a similar flood, but likely not due to the Cuyahoga Valley's greater width, and the 20 percent greater length of the Grand River and likely similarly larger watershed.

WRNative, thank you much for this incredible amount of info!

The parks seem to be doing impressive things, and the connectors should give these areas a more pleasant feel. Any word on when the Superman statue will be done also? Haven't heard a lot about it recently.

I know of Beaty Landing and its great, but was not aware of improvements. I really liked what I saw of Girdled Road with the bridge last trip. Didn't know about the observation tower either, should be great!!

Interesting insight about the flood, I remember how crazy that was, and it really affected everyone in the area. I remember people even paddling through the streets. That really was something.
