This is a thread for discussions of FACTS about Cleveland's EXISTING architecture. It is a thread to link articles or web pages with detailed discussions of Cleveland architecture.

Hopefully it will help both Greater Clevelanders and visitors better enjoy Cleveland buildings, statues, and the city's design.

Please post personal opinions in a different thread and discussions of future developments in a different thread.

Default Researcher attributes Cleveland Trust Rotunda stained glass dome to Nicola D'Ascenzo, not Tiffany

Many Clevelanders have long believed that Louis Comfort Tiffany, the famed designer, was responsible for the famous stained glass dome inside the Cleveland Trust Rotunda, now home of Heinen's downtown supermarket.

Instead, the dome is the creation of Nicola D'Ascenzo, another famed stained glass artist, whose work perhaps most famously graces the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

<<Through extensive primary research, Brunjes has proven that the stained glass dome is the work of the Philadelphia stained glass firm started by Italian immigrant Nicola D'Ascenzo, whose other works include stained glass windows at the Folger Shakespeare Library and the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and Riverside Church in New York.>>

Mystery solved: Researcher finds out who designed Cleveland Trust stained glass dome (photos) | cleveland.com

Of course, Lake View Cemetery's Wade Memorial Chapel does house one of the world's few surviving interiors created by Tiffany, featuring his masterpiece, "The Flight of Souls."

Tiffany in Cleveland

Downtown visitors also can view Tiffany windows at the Old Stone Church on Public Square.

Wade Chapel is stunning. The person inside there also gives a detailed description of each panel/it's meaning.
Some of Cleveland's more well known and acclaimed architecture, according to national/local sources:

Default Another Cleveland building with Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass windows

I knew little of this church, especially about its Tiffany stained glass windows.

<< It was notable for a selection of beautifully executed stained-glass windows created by Louis Comfort Tiffany.>>

This is sort of on topic. Can you enter the arcade through the Hyatt Hotel entrance or do you have to walk around the block to where Shake Shack and other stuff is nearby?

You can enter through either the Euclid or Superior entrance during the day. However, they lock the Euclid Avenue entrance sometime around 7 pm, after which time you can only enter through there if you're a hotel guest with a key card.

It's beautiful, I had chance years ago to tour parts of it during a historic churches tour. It was fascinating to learn there is cloister nuns still occupying the complex. The Euclid Avenue Methodist Church at E 30th was another which was purchased a few years ago and is being converted into an Event Center.

The Hungarian St Elizabeth's Church on Buckeye is a cool example of baroque architecture style. https://clevelandhistorical.org/items/show/203

The former Broadway United Methodist Church has one of only two reproductions of the Last Supper

It currently is used by community service organization.
