I have no idea either. I am from Ohio and I have no idea what out national food claim to fame is other than Skyline Chili in Cincinnati.

The south is also famous for a lot of other things!

High crime rates, high poverty, high usage of welfare programs, high obesity, low educational attainment, high divorce rates, high rates of sexually transmitted diseases, high incarceration rates, teenage pregnancy etc.

But I guess sweet tea and caloric fried food makes up for all of that.Bless your heart (Did I use that correctly?)

All the same problems rural Ohio has and especially Southern Ohio.

About 2 items on that list are "famous" nationwide. Most of them are a food type with a state's name shoved in front of them. If those foods are "famous," then so are the cassata cake, the polish boy, stadium mustard, the buckeye, city chicken, pierogi, paczki, paprikash, pizza bagel and Slyman's corned beef.
