Hello,

I have recently moved to the area from overseas to start a job at the Cleveland Clinic. I have passed the BMV written test, and am hoping to take the actual road test soon.

I don't have a car, and don't have friends who both have a car and have the time to help me practice. Can someone please recommend driving schools to me?

Thanks in advance!

Doesn't the Clinic have a relocation support service? Perhaps check in HR as they may have a relationship with a driving school.

Otherwise, this is likely the resource I would use to find a school.

Taking a class to learn winter driving skills also is a good idea. Make certain your electronic stability control is engaged, especially during hazardous winter driving conditions. Defensive driving skills are an area of emphasis that I would seek in a good driver school, with an emphasis on safe stopping distances in different driving conditions and speeds.

Also, check out winter driving guides available online -- drive more slowly in hazardous conditions because even if you can go, you might not be able to stop; have the best tires available for winter conditions, often Michelin tires (check Consumer Reports). Research black ice, even for walking, if you're not familiar with winter conditions (rubber ducks from the likes of Timberland are great outdoor winter shoes).
