This seems cheap, even by Cleveland standards. I wonder what holds down the price (personally, I wouldn't want mosquito-breeding ponds, but they are stocked so mosquitoes may not be an issue).

Some of those large mansions in Cleveland Hts. and Shaker Hts. are money pits with large deferred maintenance costs, such as leaky foundations. This house, admittedly, looks pretty great!

And what do you do with 15,000 square feet, especially if an owner is prohibited from turning it into multi-family housing by zoning restrictions. How much does it cost to heat, let alone air condition?

Often, less is more.

That's an awesome house for the price. And it's almost 100 years old. We live in CH and love the style and charm of all the older houses in the area. Call us crazy, but I don't think we'd ever buy a house that wasn't at least 75 years old.

Do you have ghosts in these houses? (serious question)

Most of the following properties run well into the millions... but here are the largest houses for sale in the Cleveland area right now. Click on the links provided for each one to view interior photos. I especially like the two Bratenahl properties. Very grand and baronial.

I recently moved to 60 year old house. And there are unexplainable noises happening at night. The strangest thing is that they only happen if someone went to the basement during the day. I was freaking out first couple of days, then got used to the situation. The neighbors say that the house stands above the ancient tunnel, which could a part of a puzzle. Looks like Cleveland area holds more secrets than I thought.

I love that area, but that house is too dark and weird. It looks like a theme park.
