That is a HORRIBLE career path in this economy, especially in a small city with a Napoleon complex like Cleveland that still wishes it was a prime time player. I am waiting to see Eric Williams enterprise start to crumble. - eddie.

All I can do is shake my head and, once again, request to you more sensible posters: please do not feed the trolls.

Perhaps you can refer me to a web page that offers success rates for new restaurants? Just in the 15 years I have lived where I live, I have seen at least 50 come and go. For whatever reason.... bad food, inexperience in running a business..... they have come and gone. Failure has no qualifiers. Business is a pass/fail venture. You can't "kind of succeed".

It ain't just restaurants that fail, Eddie. ~20% of all new businesses fail in their first year. Roughly half fail within 5 years. Most new businesses (~70%) don't make it past 10 years. Since most new restaurants are also new businesses, this stands to reason. Momocho opened in '06 (El Carnicero in 2013), so it looks like Eric Williams has made the cut.

Word to the wise: Don't s**t on other people's success. Celebrate it.

Default Ohio City's Old Fashion Hot Dogs to close at end of March

Last chance to experience an old Ohio City "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant founded 92 years ago (assuming no one else steps up to the plate):

Yeah, while I love the all the new development along Lorain, I hate losing an institution like Old Fashion Hot Dogs -- esp after losing its late-night cousin, Steve's Lunch, down the road to fire a few years ago... And both joints made killer chili dogs! Old time neighborhood joints with their electrical taped-up bar stools are neat to have around; hate to see them go because a little bit of Cleveland goes with them...

There's nothing yet at the Cleveland Independents website about the above reported March 9-21 restaurant week.

Perhaps mark your calendar to check back in a week.

Default Brunch delights

There are several Larchmere fans in this forum. Has anybody ever had the breakfast burger Felice Urban Café using fried plantains as the buns? That's something I would like to try some day!

Default Ohio City Galley closing?

I saw this story initially on a local TV news program.

https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and...s-this-weekend

Unfortunately, I never made it to the Ohio City Galley. I hope the concept isn't dead in Cleveland. I wonder how it would have fared if opened in The Arcade downtown.

Personally, I never thought it was a good location, as it is well distant from the core of the Market District.
