I have an elderly brother, on fixed income, living in a Mobile Home community. This community is in Cleveland and the local Electric Utility Company is CPP. He has just informed me of an outrageous "Add On" to his electric bill! This brings his total bill to over $500.00!! Last month it was near $400.00!! WTH!! Who can afford this type of utility bill!! Certainly, not one on a fixed income!! I understand this seems to be an ongoing situation with this utility company. I believe my brother has applied for the HEAP program, but I have my doubts that will be sufficient?! What have others encountered and what help is there to be had, for those on fixed income? Just Social Security!!

Perhaps contact the investigative reporting team at a local TV station; e.g., WKYC, WEWS. This is the type of problem that they typically help resolve for consumers.

If you're speaking of the "energy adjustment charge" that has already been ruled proper: https://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/2...re-proper.html

I've had both CPP and FirstEnergy and my monthly bills were roughly the same with equivalent usage. FirstEnergy just works in the same charges through other fees.

That type of monthly bill seems exceptionally high, though. Unless the mobile home is very inefficient and is hemorrhaging energy somewhere, I'd recommend doing some type of energy audit to see how so much power is being drawn.
