I thought the article for a second said the facade has some kind of color scheme that would play... obviously thinking some night aspect of a light show. It has been fun watching this rise next to several other projects.

The only real mistake that was made in Pittsburgh was that the casino opened without table games. Once table games were added, revenue increased, and the casino is doing fine now.

They are already talking about phase 2 starting up. One of those believe it when I see it kind of deals.

In other news, I mentioned this about the Calfee in another thread:

Not at a cost. Embassy Suites either had to retool and renovate to compete with the 4 brand new hotels moving in or take advantage of the current scarcity of apartments downtown. Since it used to be all apartments in the first place, it chose to capitalize on the latter.

I also said it about a year ago, but there is much speculation about another hotel/office complex being built on the NW corner of public square and that the hotel is likely to be one of the Hilton brand names. Embassy Suites is a Hilton brand.

Personally, I think it is much better to have the apartments than the hotel. It means more people living downtown rather than just staying the night.
