I haven't had a chance to read the first article.. but are they planning a new building? If so, hopefully it is something that compliments the skyline if the plan does go through.

Correct...if both these plans go through, then Cleveland will see a 22-story building get built in phase I of the Flats AND Dan Gilbert will construct a Casino across from Tower City/the Q. But of course, gambling has to be made legal in Ohio.

But if all goes as planned, that's just under a $1 Billion dollars going into Downtown between the two projects...not counting anything else that may happen in the next 2-3 years.

I was just thinking about this. If everything lines up, Cleveland is going to have a busy next 2-3 years of construction/renovations:

Downtown:
Aquarium (very probable)
Casino (probable)
Med Mart/ Convention Center (Probable)
Flats East Bank Phase I (probable)
Flats East Bank Phases II and III (who knows...)
CSU dormitories on Euclid Ave (very probable)
668 Euclid Ave Apartments (completion in the next 3-6 months)
Avenue District Expansion (some chance)
Schofield Building Renovation--E.9 and Euclid (exterior has been stipped...probable)
Warehouse District constuction (who knows...)

University Circle/Cleveland Clinic:
VA Hospital Expansion (currently going on)
UH Cancer Center (currently being built)
New housing/townhomes/condos (currently being built)
Cleveland Clinic new Lab (probable)
Mental Hospital (some chance)

Other:
New ODOT highway Bridge Construction (studies are being done)
3-C Connector station (probable if federal funding comes)

Pretty exciting times!

Anything else I am forgetting??

Don't forget about the new CSU student center currently under construction. And what is going on with the renovations of that building on corner of East 9th and Euclid? Are those being turned into condos?

And another question? I noticed when I was up there, Terminal Tower was finished at the top and they had it lite, but why isn't the rest of the building lite up at night? Are they doing some more work on the mid and lower levels?

Oh yes! I did forget. CSU has three buildings currently under construction, not to mention the renovations of older buildings along Euclid Ave to create lofts.

Here's the only article I can find on the Schofield building on E. 9th: Owners hope to renovate Schofield Building, East Ohio Building in downtown Cleveland | Business - cleveland.com - - cleveland.com

If you've been by it lately, you'll see they're ripped off the 1970's siding, where they will be restoring the exterior to it's 1920's look. My guess would be apartments and/or hotel...later on condo's?

Unfortunitely I do not know about Terminal Tower status. It looks GREAT with all the scaffoling down. Hopefully new lighting will come before the holiday season! But I'm not the one to ask...

Well thanks, it helped a lot. The Schofield building will look awesome when that is done, I always like when they do that stuff. Also, when I was in Cleveland they were starting on the new residential dorms by Euclid and Carnegie I believe. So that would leave it at four new buildings under construction at Cleveland State:

New Student Center
Something on Euclid to the right of the student center
The new Medical Building by Fenn Tower
New Dorms going up

And Tower City did look great with the top all finished and lighted up.

My understanding this will be a $90 million project...not sure what I think of it yet quite honestly...It definitely adds to the eastside of Cleveland becoming more and more of a medical hub..

I'm sure Gallucci's will get plenty of business by the construction workers while it's getting built!

Both CCF and UH have excellent psychiatric care centers. My guess is that the feeling is this puts the new facility nearby to abundant and proven expertise. That can only be an advantage for the patients. And, yes, it is yet another feather in the Cleveland medical cap.

Side note: Gallucci's needs to renovate. My god is that place beat!
