That looks awesome! I love fields with skyline backdrops and this just adds to it even more.

Regardless, this Sherwin-Williams skyscraper/downtown HQ building has been an on-n-off again topic for at least 30 years.

It would be nice if SW did, in fact, build a supertall skyscraper downtown, with the PS Jacobs lot as its focus.
I for one am glad the police hq building didn't go or will not go on the Warehouse District Weston lots.
It would be extremely nice, and I think eventually SW will build a new HQ downtown.. I'm just not confident we see real traction to this rumor by year's end.

More frustrating nuCLEus news, can we just figure this thing out and break ground already? That would add some real infill especially as viewed from Progressive Field. Will be curious to see if City Club plans to build tall enough to be seen from there as well.

Seems weird to me ... if he's asking for and taking public money, he should have no qualms about paying the prevailing wages.

Dewey’s Coffee in Shaker Square to close after 15 years of business

Strange unfolding of events, to close up shop suddenly like this. It's odd that the owner wouldn't announce it ahead of time or try to sell the place. I wonder if there's more to the story?

Dang! Almost every visit I take the rail to the Square and visit Dewey's. It's always crowded. Sitting in the window during a snow event is the best. Sorry to hear this.

This is sad, my favorite cafe to go to in Cleveland. Can't help but think this is bad ownership mistakes somewhere, place was always lively whenever I've been.

When you say 'bad ownership mistakes', do you mean Dewey's or Coral, which own Shaker Square?... Dewey's always seemed well-run, and well liked, to me... I can agree about the latter, because I'm always hearing gripes about Coral and am often appalled by the poor upkeep of the Square.

I'm saddened by this. Dewey's is an oft fave drop in, either for coffee, pastries or ice cream... or sometimes, just to chill. It's a neighborhood 'family room' for the community; a great meeting place for friends and neighbors. SS will take a serious hit when Dewey's closes. Coral would be smart to replace it with something similar. Obviously, the market is strong for such an operation ... Dewey Forward sounds like he's just tired of the rat-race (and maybe that's just dealing with Coral). He's keeping his Chagrin Fall location open at least.

Yeah I know. Dewey's has been a Shaker Square staple since it opened. For him, to just close so suddenly makes think something doesn't smell right. Why didn't he try to sell it? I'm sure he would've gotten a good price for it since it is a thriving business. Or, that the people that owns the Square are just some stupid idiots. If that's the case, the Square needs to be taken out of their hands and given to somebody that will treat it like the treasure it is.

Not really sure. Just most of the time when I place I like closes that was really popular and well-reviewed, something behind the scenes was quite awry. In the last 5 years, I can think of popular places that closed suddenly due to family squabbles/lawsuits, alcohol violations, poor building maintenance that got out of control in a dramatic way, etc. I hope a coffee shop will go back in this space. It always seemed like one of the centers of the community.
