Geez. Everytime I check back, Cleveland adds like $50 million more in development...

This city is figuring things out!

They're definitely doing something right.

^it really does feel cleveland is taking an extreme pro-active approach and not waiting for anyone anymore. There are some true leaders emerging from the pack getting things done.

And on that Ari Maron and MRN Ltd. Wow! This restoration is gorgeous!! So exciting! :

I agree, it's nice to see some of these projects finally get started!!! We've heard talk about them for so long, but ground has finally been broken on a number of new developments. Congrats to C-Town!!!

Great to see that construction has finally started on the convention center. Two quick questions though:

1. Most convention centers have a fairly large hotel attached. Any plans on a hotel being built along with the medical mart??

2. What does Cleveland plan to do with the old convention center? Tear it down?

The original convention center will not be demolished, but will be renovated as part of this enormous project.

As far as hotels are concerned, there are several large existing hotels that are located within walking distance of the Medical Mart / Convention Center, and several more are in the planning or construction phase ... including an ALOFT HOTEL to be part of the new FLATS EAST development.

Speaking of Cleveland hotels in the planning and construction phase, does anyone have an update on what is happening with the Schofield Building, on E.9th and Euclid?? It was supposed to be turned into a Kimpton Hotel and the last thing I read about it was that it was approved for $5 million in state historic tax credits. But since then I havnt heard anything or seen any work being done on the building.

Also, as I was looking online here today for updates on the Schofield Building, I came across this article from a few months ago about a few other possible hotels in the area. Just an FYI,

^^ I fear there is still a hold up in some of the financing. I wish the PD could report on this. Do tax credits expire???
