Hi,

We are visiting Cleveland in the last week of Oct for a family reunion. We have a bunch of kids in our party. We are planning to take the scenic Fall Flyer trip in Cuyahoga valley national park. Kids are not that much into zoo. What other activities would you suggest within couple of hours drive from CLE.
Oh, btw, we are traveling from Austin, Tx We would be prepared for the cold

Thanks in Advance.
Steve

Cedar Point should still be open weekends for the Halloween season. It's a little over an hour's drive.

What age range are the kids?

Definitely take the kids on Cuyahoga Valley Scenic railroad through the park... they'll love it.

They sound like a perfect age for the Children's Museum on Euclid Ave. Also, check out the Great Lakes Science Museum next to the Rock Hall.

Some thoughts:
Cleveland Museum of Natural History is very kid friendly. https://www.cmnh.org/

The West side market is fun for kids: West Side Market in Cleveland

The Lake Farm Park is great for kids that want to learn about animals: Lake Metroparks Farmpark - Family Science and Cultural Farming Center | Lake Metroparks

I know you said the kids aren't into zoos but Akron's zoo is very intimate and great for smaller kids: https://www.akronzoo.org/

It will be a bit cooler than Central TX, but October is not really cold. We call it sweatshirt weather. It's usually in the 60s or high 50s during the day and sometimes even up to the mid 70s, but it can dip into the 40s at night. As far as what to do with kids, I would say that it will really depend on their age. Aside from what has been mentioned, there's a plethora of hay rides, corn mazes, haunted houses, fall festivals, clam bakes, trick or treating, local football games, etc. at that time of year. Younger kids might also really enjoy the Boo at the Zoo nights they have at the Cleveland Zoo. Fall is a great time of year up here.

I don't think the aquarium was mentioned yet either: https://www.greaterclevelandaquarium.com/

You may also want to check out a Cavs or Monsters (IHL hockey) game - both are very kid friendly. The arena has just had over $180 million in renovations and upgrades and the upper bowl tickets are generally affordable. They also have group deals. The arena is within walking distance of some great restaurants and bars (for the big kids) as well. https://www.rocketmortgagefieldhouse.com/

If by some miracle the Indians are still playing that late into October, there's that option as well. Although tickets will likely be hard to come by and quite expensive. It is a great ballpark, however, and worth just taking in the view from the outside. It's also right next door to the arena.
