What the heck? Used to go there pretty often when I worked up that way, thought the beer was good, food was reasonable, decor was great. Can't imagine not being able to make money unless, as is often the case, poor management. Hopefully they can re-open, but if you get to the point where the government has to close you down - something is royally screwed up.

Wow, what a strange situation. Clearly Cooke has some serious financial issues, but there has to be more to the civil case. This 73 year old woman with no business or restaurant experience was given controlling equity by her son? Then she loaned Cooke $48k to buy 37% of the business? Then sold her 53% stake for over 500k to Cooke? Super confusing...

Honestly, even though Cooke sounds shady, the other parties do too.

I've heard a few things about some shady business practices. Business closures like this are usually as a result of over-extension and terrible management. I've seen it happen 50 times.

Yeah their menu changes all the time and can be hit or miss although i was last there over the summer and was really impressed by their burgers. Plus, they had Hopnotic on tap which is my fall time favorite WBC beer.

What else did you expect in SEC country? Half the people there probably deprived their family of food for a ticket.

"Not paying taxes" made me think property taxes, not sales.

This is more like "Stealing taxes" than simply not paying them. Sales tax is collected from customers at the point of sale. This company just stole it instead of turning it over to the state as required.
