Hi all...

Now that COVID is calming down a bit, restarting the thoughts on moving to CLE. Trying to find a SFH rental in Southern CH, and found a nice rental near Woodbury school (on Woodbury) in SH.

Does anyone live in that part of Shaker? Really interested to understand the traffic patterns, as I currently live on a VERY quiet dead end abutting a huge park. Some traffic noise is okay, a cut thru is not.

Thanks!

Techie

That should be a quiet enough neighborhood. The busiest streets in that area are Woodland, the stretch of South Park both north and south of Woodland. The next busiest streets are Parkland from South Park to Lee, and some off-the-main-road traffic uses either Woodbury or Warrington with greater frequency than surrounding streets.

If you're including place North of Shaker Blvd, I'd say that the three way intersection of North Woodland, West Park, and Larchmere sees more traffic than most non-major routes.

I don't live in that neighborhood, but I run in it daily and at all times of day to be able to confidently answer any questions about traffic through there (I think a runner who keeps in the street might be more aware of the vehicle traffic than even people who live there). PM if you have some direct questions that you think I might be able to answer.

edited: wrote Chadbourne instead of Warrington in initial post.

The Woodbury area, in general, is pretty quiet; very woodsy and beautiful homes, including many full-scale mansions. It's a jogger's paradise. It is also home to the core of Shaker Heights' school system -- very high-quality public schools -- with both the High School, the Woodbury School and the school administration all, more or less, sharing the same campus.

Traffic wise it's a little tricky. While this neighborhood is far from Manhattan or Chicago, there is some cut-through traffic, mainly avoiding the Shaker Square bottleneck while taking the 'back roads' (Larchmere, North Woodland, North Park, etc) heading to University Circle and Cleveland Clinic... with some driving all the way downtown. Of course this neighborhood has the advantage of being within walking distance of both the Blue and Green rapid transit lines to downtown and the airport.

... all that said, this area is far from being a noisy traffic route. There are a number of students from the high school who drive and park their (parent's) cars along the oval surrounding the HS. But the charms, convenience, quality and sheer breathtaking beauty (and diversity) of this neighborhood, far outweigh whatever few cut-through drivers it experiences.

Thanks all....I've been able to connect with a couple of folks that actually live on Woodbury or neighboring streets, and have a good perspective on the traffic. Heavier than what I have now, but less than my previous Boston residence. I can live with that.
