How walkable/safe is that in the late afternoon? It it better to take Lyft for $6 ?

And by the way, the ride estimates vary widely between Uber and Lyft for Cleveland on their websites. Why is Uber so much higher? Did they institute some sort of outrageous minimum for a ride? I heard that was going to happen eventually many place due to not enough drivers while there was almost too many before the pandemic in some place.

Is it walkable likewise from Little Italy to the art museums?

Also are there any breakfast places within walking distance of the downtown Westin?

Thanks!

The walk down Mayfield Rd. from Coventry to Little Italy is perfectly safe. It takes you past 2 historic cemeteries (Lakeview Cemetery is definitely worth checking out for the sculpture work, beautiful landscape, and the famous people who are buried there), and a lot of apartment buildings occupied mostly by students. You can walk down Mayfield to the Art Museum as well pretty easily (it's all downhill), and it's a nice walk that will take you past University Hospital, the Museum of Modern Art, The Uptown district, and the CWRU campus.

For breakfast, check out "Yours Truly" restaurant in the Playhouse Square district. It's a beloved local restaurant well known for their breakfasts.

Default Mike & Dee's Diner

I've never eaten at Mike & Dee's Diner, but it's closer (.3 miles, 7 minutes per Google) to the Westin than Yours Truly (.5 miles, 12 minutes, per Google). It opens at 7:30 a.m. It's located in the lobby of the Holiday Inn Express.

https://www.yelp.com/biz/mike-and-de...Best+Breakfast

Click on walking directions at the above link. Just walk south on East 6th Street and turn left on Euclid Ave.

Yours Truly is a small Cleveland chain and the Yours Truly on Public Square is much larger than Mike & Dee's, if social distancing is desirable. It has a second floor (likely not open in the morning), and tables in the lobby of the Halle Building, likely open depending upon the amount of breakfast business. Yours Truly opens at 6:30 a.m. Yours Truly likely has a bigger breakfast menu and higher prices, but it's very good.

If you go to Yours Truly, you could check out the Playhouse Square Chandelier, even though it's more impressive after dark.

Although Heinen's may not have resumed prepared food service in its iconic Rotunda, it still might be possible to check out the Rotunda, an architectural landmark.

https://www.cleveland19.com/2020/10/...e-renaissance/

You could call Heinen's Downtown and ask if it's possible to view the Rotunda, but it's right along the walk to Yours Truly and Playhouse Square.

The 1890 Restaurant (.3 miles, 6 minutes walk from the Westin per Google) in the Hyatt Regency at the Arcade apparently opens for breakfast at 7 a.m.

In any event, you should check out The Arcade, a Cleveland architectural landmark.

https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/oh...e-arcade/clerc

John D. Rockefeller was one of the investors who financed its construction.

On a walk down Euclid, also check out the 5th Street Arcades.

https://www.5thstreetarcades.com/

Barrio there is another popular Cleveland restaurant chain.

https://barrio-tacos.com/location/barrio-gateway

Addy's Diner there is another breakfast option.

Colossal Cupcakes, on Euclid Ave. at the entrance to the 5th St. Arcades, also has reopened.

Best wishes for an enjoyable stay in Cleveland.

Little Italy has great restaurants. Mia Bella is a top-rated Cleveland restaurant (make reservations). Definitely check out Presti's (grab a number when you first enter). Guarino's has a nice patio if the weather is nice.

In University Circle, there are several good attractions very near the Cleveland Museum of Art, including the Cleveland Museum of Natural History (for the Perkins Wildlife Center and Balto; timed reservations needed), and the Cleveland Botanical Garden Glasshouse.

Perkins Wildlife Center & Woods Garden | Cleveland Museum of Natural History

Perhaps check out Balto.

On a nice day, definitely explore the Cleveland Museum of Art's Fine Arts Garden and Wade Lagoon.

Perhaps also explore the Nord Family Greenway.

Enjoy Cleveland!

Default RTA #9 bus runs between Coventry Village and Little Italy

If you're going to Coventry Village from downtown, definitely check out your route on Google transit. E.g., the RTA #9 bus runs between the Cleveland Clinic, Little Italy, and Coventry Village. If you had an RTA day pass, taking the Healthline bus rapid or the Red Line rail transit, then transferring to the #9 bus is a good option.

9: Mayfield | Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority

While it's an uphill walk from Little Italy to Coventry Village (Tommy's restaurant location) if you don't take the bus, it would be a more enjoyable downhill walk. Google offers three walking options from 20 to 23 minutes (faster downhill?), the latter allowing you to see more of Cleveland Hts. residential neighborhoods.

You also could try to use the free CircleLink shuttle.

If you walk between Little Italy and the Cleveland Museum of Art, consider walking by the Peter B. Lewis Building IMO. I believe it's the only building in Greater Cleveland designed by famed modern architect Frank Gehry. Gehry was greatly constrained by Case Western University's desire for him to use brick to help the building complement existing structures.

Check out Google images of the building.

L'Albatros is consistently one of Cleveland's highest ranked restaurants. It has a large, enclosed patio and surprisingly moderate prices IMO for such a highly regarded restaurant

Personally, I find the entire area Cedar-Lee/Cedar-Fairmount/Coventry/Larchmere/Shaker Lakes/Little Italy/University Circle to be extremely pleasant and great for walking. I've walked from University Heights to Little Italy a few times.

There is a free bus service offered by University Circle - CircleLink - https://www.universitycircle.org/vis...lelink-shuttle

The Blue line will take you from Coventry, down Mayfield, through Little Italy, and past all of the museums.

I've walked that stretch on more than one occasion in the late afternoon and felt as safe as can be.

The #9 bus covers that stretch, but has excruciatingly infrequent service, in my opinion. Even on weekdays in between rush hours.

I have seen those free shuttle buses another poster mentioned... but didn't know if they were for "anyone" or just students.

The #9 buses run every 30-40 minutes.

9: Mayfield | Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority

Anybody can use the Circle shuttles.
