I would say it's more of a hurried workaholic culture than a laid back one, but think blue collar work rather than white collar.

Cleveland is too slow-paced, and the people move slowly and zombie-like. Seldom does one see anyone walking with purpose or with a sense of urgency.

The variance of responses to this is pretty funny. IMO in general, Cleveland is just fast enough for people to complain it's too fast, and just slow enough for people to complain it's too slow. It's a medium sized city, so that kinda makes sense.

Downtown, Ohio City, Tremont have more that kind of hustle culture. But where I am in Collinwood, for example, certainly does not. I think most Cleveland neighborhoods are like that.

"Zombie-like" hahaha. I would definitely notice that in stores and while driving. Certainly you see this all over to varying degrees but recall so many people in their own world with no sense of awareness of life around them. For example, driving 60 in the left lane on the highway. Or merging onto 271 going 45. Or turning their steering wheel to the left before making a right turn like they drive a Mack truck instead of an Accord and nearly side-swiping you. Or standing zombie-like staring at Tide vs All at Target while their cart is situated in the middle of the aisle not allowing anyone to pass. Good ol' Cleveland.

Cleveland and Northeast Ohio is about in the middle of being fast paced and more slow, people are definitely Midwest Nice and polite, but determined to accomplish their task. I.e; Grocery shopping, driving, conducting business.

Agreed, much more laid back than the coastal cities. Is it relaxed as the deep South? Maybe not, but certainly more than the coasts. Trust me, I know...I just moved from one (and spent considerable time on the other).

That actually sounds like any Kroger in any town anywhere. That has Krogers.

On the other hand, there was a yuppie couple blocking all the dog treats at Kroger a while back while they debated whether "organic" or "all natural" was better for their dog. As if they were shopping for human food at Whole Foods or Trader Joes. They looked and sounded like an SNL skit personified.

If you think CLE is a hurried workaholic culture, obviously you've never spent a lot of time in San Francisco (particularly East Bay/Silicon Valley), NYC or Boston. Seattle is edging up to that level of intensity too. These are examples of US hurried workaholic cultures.

Agreed, Cleveland is not even remotely close to that type of unhealthy mentality.
