Starting production of EV Truck at the Lordstown Foxconn EV plant
https://investor.lordstownmotors.com...rancetm-pickup

Will be interesting to see how far this goes. At the very least, Foxconn is hiring and getting supply chains set up.

Honda just announced a $4.2B investment in electric vehicles including $3.5B for a new EV battery plant. This is all in SW OH but could help fortify the NEO region as an EV production hub and perhaps more investment in the Lordstown area.

Bendix' new HQ in Avon (next to Lorain, trying to stay relevant to this thread) will focus on smart transportation technology

https://rejournals.com/an-example-fo...-office-space/

"Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, a company that designs and supplies safety technologies, energy management solutions and braking systems for trucks, trailers, buses and other commercial vehicles."

More EV/smart vehicle infrastructure for NEO.

Haven't heard much more about the Naval Shipyard project in Lorain.

But here is some good news for Youngstown State University, Foxconn investing in a training program, assumptively to help their $230M investment in Lordstown EV production.

Great news on the EV training program investment at YSU.

I haven’t heard much new info on the Lorain / Lordstown Naval Shipyards project, but one article in a Defense related publication suggests it’s a long shot.

https://breakingdefense.com/2022/05/...avys-problems/

<But what may seem an easy solution on paper has, so far, been met with cold reality. The Navy rejected Bartlett’s proposal the first time due to cost and policy concerns, and still sees issues with a revised proposal submitted earlier this year. There’s also a host of technical and legal hurdles any plan for a new shipyard in the Great Lakes would have to overcome.>

In short, there are potential issues related to dimensions of the Navy’s subs relative to the St. Lawrence Seaway route, as well as legal issues involved in transporting radioactive (nuclear) subs through Canadian territory.

We shall see…

Here's the latest on Foxconn over in Lordstown. If this continues to take off, Youngstown/Warren might start to see an uptick in prosperity.

https://www.wkbn.com/news/local-news...-in-lordstown/

Certainly has potential, along with all that battery production their building in Lordstown

From the WKBN article:
While we wait for production to begin on the new Fisker PEAR and prototypes of the Indiev Indi 1, Foxconn Vice President of EV Production Rick Rajaie said the company is working to reach agreements with even more automotive partners.

“We need to do our part. Our part to drive business and transform the Mahoning Valley into the Voltage Valley,” Rajaie said.

Executives are not saying much about when those announcements will happen.

“My short answer is very soon,” Rajaie said.
