The Cavaliers sign both Darius Garland and Ricky Rubio.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/d...o-231-million/

Rubio will be recovering from an ACL tear and may have limited playing time initially.

Given Rubio's recovery, and perhaps vulnerability to another injury, it may be important if the Cavaliers are able to retain Collin Sexton, also recovering from a knee injury, but much further along in his recovery and reportedly fully recovered. The question is whether the Cavs will match any free agent offer to Sexton from another NBA team, although reportedly only two teams have sufficient remaining salary cap room to even make an offer to Sexton.

We maybe forget, when healthy, Sexton's great talent.

<<Additionally, he is the only rookie in NBA history to have played at least 2,000 minutes while scoring over 16 points per game on over 40% 3-point accuracy and fewer than 3 turnovers.>>

Sexton could be a critical player for the Cavaliers in the upcoming season.

Default Agbaji in, Osman out?

Drafting 3-point shooter and defensive star Ochai Agbaji with their top pick in the 2022 draft, the Cavaliers may part with Cedi Osman.

"[Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby] Altman has been adamant about Agbaji providing them with a skill set they didn’t have before..."

IF HEALTHY, and if Sexton is signed, the 2022-23 Cavaliers may be much improved at the guard positions over last year's break-out team.

Agbaji should be able to give them some good shooting off the bench...same w/ Sexton if they can keep him but I wouldn't stretch the budget for him.

Unfortunately, I didn't catch Agbaji's Summer League debut in today's Cavs-Spurs matchup, but checked the box score and saw he netted 16 points -- not bad for an opener. But MORE IMPORTANTLY, was his 4-9 3-point shooting (44%)... Not only is that a nice percentage, but I love that the kid apparently has no conscience and is unafraid to shoot the long ball... His 9 attempts were the most of any player in the game today (Spurs' Josh Primo was second shooting 7 3s). That's a great sign... Some kids who we know can shoot, get gun-shy when they reach the NBA -- case in point: our own All-Star PG Darius Garland. We all knew DG could nail 3s and shoot them with Curry-esqe range... But he was often reluctant to shoot them -- it used to drive me and my buddies friggin' crazy when Garland would run himself off the line having had wide-open 3-point shots, only to charge in/step in to shoot a blown mid-ranger or run into the paint and get his shot blocked or stolen. Darius, to this day, still does this from time to time.

So good for Agbaji, whose outside range could provide an exciting dynamic to our already promising Cavs team... my message to Ochai: HOIST!!!!

Agbaji could get a lot of Okorro minutes if Isaac doesn't start improving offensively.

I was thinking the same thing. Physically and size-wise, they are very similar players; Agbaji even looks a tad more muscular than Okoro. Yes, this is only Summer League, but obviously, Agbaji has more offense than Isaac, esp with the long ball, and he scores, handles and passes the ball effortlessly as opposed to Okoro's pounding the ball and awkwardly drives to the bucket. Plus Ochai shows he can D-up guys as well; a trait that will make him even more of a threat to Okoro.
