because the eastside suffers from poverty on a much higher scale than the westside, and poverty as we know is one of the main catalysts of crime.

The Westside has some pretty rough areas as well though. Not just the near westside or the triangle either, some areas past W130th are pretty rough. I agree that the Eastside is a good amount worse though, the westside doesnt have any entire neighborhoods of projects and section 8 like the Eastside.

It's where The Blacks live that counts and that's just the way it goes

"The single best indicator of violent crime levels in an area is the percentage of the population that is black and Hispanic."

"Police and the justice system are not biased against minorities."

The point andrew was making wasn't about east side vs. west side. He's saying that they should distinguish which neighborhood on the east side, as there is a big diffeence between Central and Shaker Square, although when everything is just reported as "East Side" it just lumps everything together.

That was exactly the point I was trying to make, thanks.

The Blacks? Is that an organization?

Did anybody else notice that the Chef also quoted (and linked to) a publication from a white nationalist group. Yikes.
