Looks like more people continue to go rather than stay or come back as greater Cleveland lost about 6,000 more people last year and has lost around 60,000 since 2000.

actually, the bleeding has stopped to a drip. 2007-2008 numbers(plus and minus) for cuyahoga and metro are almost break even... that says alot compared to 100,000+ losses over the past few decades.

Here's the article that says the population loss has slowed somewhat.
Cleveland leads big cities in population loss, census figures show - Cleveland's Top Story from The Plain Dealer

And by the way, why is this being brought up again? Every person on this board along with everyone in the country is well aware of the challenges facing Cleveland. Population loss is just something we're going to have to accept for a little while longer until we can get things turned around here.

don't think that this just relates to Cleveland. Stats also have to do with total population vs. numbers leaving. The ratios are just as high for other states. Ford is re-opening a plant there, which probably drove out some of those people when they lost jobs.
I am leaving FL to come back to Cleveland. People are leaving FL in DROVES, but the Europeans, Canadians, snow birds from the north, and starry-eyes folks who think living in FL is a non-stop vacation make our numbers skewed a little bit. If you took the numbers for states like FL, and took out those who don't claim it as their primary residence, we'd be top on the nation's list FOR SURE.
Everything is cyclical. Grass is not always greener. Good luck all of you who move. I'll take the good deals I can get right now to come back!

I think the population loss is a lot for many states. I live in So. Cal and was listening to Roger Hedgecock yesterday (not sure if you get him in Cleve). He was saying that a lot of business is leaving this area. People were calling in reiterating that fact. So. Cal population is increasing, but a lot is illegal.
Everything is in cycles. My hope for Cleveland is that is comes back HUGE! Somebody with an entrepreneurial spirit and the $$$$ can change Cleveland. It has FRESH WATER. We are going to be rationed here with water.
How is the medical mart doing there? Hoping more businesses decide to locate there. Would think now it is a wonderful oppotunity with real estate so low. Although I think taxes are high there for business?
I know Cleveland has been hit hard.
