Hi! So, I am a 26 year-old female who is originally from Mentor/Painesville and have lived in TN for grad school since 2004. I just got a position at the VA (in University Circle) to begin this June. I would like to live closer to the VA than Mentor. My family all have their opinions but what do you guys think? I am considering Lakewood - where else? I would like to rent a house, preferably, with a fenced-in yard for my dog, 2-3 br in the $650-$850 range. My boyfriend may or may not be moving with me, so I may be living alone. FOr recreation, I plan to have a membership to the zoo, to frequent the Museum of Art as they open new exhibits (as well as other museums in Univ. Circle and downtown), and would love to do some regular shopping at the West Side Market. So, being within a reasonable proximity to all these things are preferable. I also heard a rumor that the West Side doesn't get as much snow as Mentor?? Man, I feel sheltered. Anyway, any help would be wonderful!!!

That pretty much describes Lakewood or the Westpark area of Cleveland, especially the portion close to the river.

As for the snow, there is generally a significant difference between the sides of town with Lakewood getting little "lake effect" snow. Also, the closer you live to the lake, the less snow there is EARLY in the season.
