I am getting ready to come to Cleveland to start a job downtown and my wife and I are looking to move to the Westlake/North Olmsted area. Is that a bearable commute, especially given the state of the I-90 bridge? My goal is to keep it under 30 minutes, even in rush hour traffic. I would appreciate thoughts on the commute as well as on the Westlake area in general. (We're mid-twenties, no kids, small-town type people).

The latest update on the bridge is that it probably won't ever close completely. As a fellow west side I-90 commuter, it has been a little rough with bridge's lane closure. So you are probably going to take right around 30 minutes. Just as an alternative idea. If you work in the Public Square vicinity, you may want to consider getting off at the W. 140th exit and taking the Triskett rapid. That is what I have started doing and I can get to public square quicker than driving in and parking. As for the Westlake area, if you are small town people but want to be reasonably close to downtown then Westlake is probably right for you. It also has a decent amount of young professionals in the city. You may also want to check out Rocky River. It is similar to Westlake but it is just a little closer in so it could save you some time. I hope that helps.
