There are some "iffy" areas in Brookpark, but not many. Other than that, they're all mostly safe and nearly devoid of any serious crime. The Cleveland area has excellent hospitals in just about every location. A good one in the immediate area that you are looking in is Southwest General.

Berea is very safe, I used to stay out there at Baldwin Wallace College during the summer and my friends and I would be out at all times of the night without any problems. It's a family friendly place with a hospital (Southwest General) and is close enough to two malls (Great Northern in North Olmsted and Southpark in Strongsville) without directly dealing with the traffic. It's affordable as well and only a hop skip and a jump away from the airport. Definitely check it out!

It's been a few years since the last post on this topic but any updates?
I'm mostly looking for a vacation home that's near the airport and want a neighborhood that's safe enough that I don't want to worry has someone broken in while we were away?

I live in Lakewood and work in Westlake. You might also consider Fairview. North Olmsted is a bit bustling and big for my taste. Bay village is right on the water but really tiny. Rocky River is extremely desirable. You will pay for certain zip codes for sure. Lakewood is by far the most affordable and I absolutely love it. In any case, living on the lake is really nice. Good luck

If you move to Lakewood try to be closer to west end -- much nicer then by 117th.

I grew up around the areas your interested in, specifically Strongsville. Yes the city is generic, but I cannot deny that its a great place to raise a family, great shopping, great education, and great safety. However, you will be dependent on a car to get around, suburbia at its finest.

I agree, if u want to add a little more charm in the equation, Id choose Berea or Rocky River.

Olmsted Falls has a lot of charm but no shopping or anything like what you see in North Olmsted... borderline country the farther west you go from there.

If you are going to look at Lakewood, my preference is north of Detroit Ave. and east of say 130th St.

Berea is also pretty good.

How is the South Euclid area? I found listings on Winston Rd and another on Lambert Rd. Google street view looks like a very quiet area.
Any thoughts?

Check out Fairview Park as well, especially south of Lorain Avenue for access to I-480 and the airport. Not sure about the schools but I think they're pretty good and Fairview is a nice place. Access to work and shopping in North Olmsted.
