Hello All!

I want to know what are some streets/areas in downtown CLE that I should absolutely stay away from during my apartment search.

I've found a bevy of 1 BR/studios in my price range ($350-$500 /mo.) around downtown Cleveland, but before I go look at them I was hoping the experts of the city here could help me with some general advice about downtown CLE.

Thanks guys.

It's generally better to stay west of E. 14th Street, or better yet E. 9th Street. The eastern parts of downtown don't have a lot of amenities and fade into some rough neighborhoods. If you are finding apts downtown for that cheap than they are probably not in the most desirable or convienent location. If you want downtown you should also look in Tremont and Ohio City (neighborhoods just west of downtown). You can probably find an apartment for around $500 in those areas.

Yes, that is way too cheap.Look around CSU. There is plenty of great housing. The neighborhood is quieter and more accessible. Check the University and its surroundings.

Under $500 is going to be a little bit of a challange.

I'd also recommend around CSU, Tremont or Ohio City

Im a realtor and I work with plenty of renters/buyers in Cleveland(my office is downtown) $500 would definitely be a challenge downtown, but its almost not worth it. For $500 downtown you're not going to get too nice of a place and you'll probably have to pay extra for parking. I know there are some nice apts in Ohio City in that range. It depends on your age and what you are looking for bc there are plenty of cool neighborhoods around cleveland that may be suitable. If you want more info, I'd be happy to help. My contact info is in my profile.
