If you are truly looking for the best, there are probably 8-10 especially good school districts in the CLE area, including a handful that are among the best in the state and even the country. Sitting here with my 20 year teacher wife who notes Hudson, Solon, Chagrin Falls, Beachwood, Bay Village, Rocky River, Westlake among the best, all factors considered. Those are on east, west, and south of Cleveland.

Any of these areas, and maybe a few others, would be interchangeable academically, but different in lifestyle. Do you want outer suburb, closer in suburb, historic area, upscale, more middle class, newer homes, older homes, etc?

There are a also a number of additional districts, in desirable areas, that are good, but a half step down....

Schools and districts are only as good as the students and families that use them. The teachers and administration in districts like Cleveland Heights, Lakewood, and South Euclid-Lyndhurst are no less caring and hard-working then those found in some of the other districts mentioned. As such, any child can receive a quality education in those and many other districts, as well.

This thread is almost three years old, by the way, so I'm guessing the OP has already made their decision.

I live in MS and my hubby who is and was living in Cin., OH for the past 2 years are moving in together (finally) in Cleveland.
We have 2 girls, one is going to K and the other to 3rd grade and I am looking for the best schools for them, public as I cannot afford private now. My girls are super sensitive, shy and smart.
I have searched and read on this forum quite a bit and found that Solon and Beachwood have the best schools, do you agree?
What other areas should I be looking at?
I did not find a lot of rentals in the above area, do you advise a certain place to look at? We are not sure how long we will be living in Cleveland, so we do not intend to buy this year.
Coming from MS, I am worried about the weather, down here, we cheer for a snow day!
Thank you
Solon, Chagrin Falls have best school rating in Cleveland area. But they are expensive though. Also you can check school rating on education.com.
