Im married 26 yrs old in school for business. my wife is a nurse and we have two lil girls. From ohio was wondering what place is better to raise kids either wilmington or myrtle. Which area has more job opputunitys and family friendly with more options for the kids. Would a young couple with kids enjoy myrtle more than wilmington and why? And whats the crime rate and tax differences.

wow, cityspud. first post and already asking folks to do your tax and crime research for you.
if you want an opinion, i think wilmington is more desirable than myrtle beach in nearly every way, except for tourism and golf.
I've been to wilmington twice in the last year and the only thing i seen it besides mayfair its fairly borring even in the season of tourist. I lived in miami and las vegas and been to nyc a dozen times. Will younger kids have fun growing up there and will we. Or it more of a retiring spot. I judge a lot amoung citys with there malls and the mall was depressing. Which city pays more and which city could u really enjoy the most?
thanks ive did my research on both but living in major citys i was wondering could it compare. Being there twice i highly doubt its expensive especialy the homes. Pharmacudical sales and nursing degree combined i feel i could live really well there. but thanks for your comments anyways.
if you try to compare wilmington to miami, vegas and NYC you will be sorely disappointed.
Appreciate a city for what it is, don't dislike it, for what it's NOT.
Wilmington is a fairly quiet college town with a predominantly serviced (beach tourist) industry.
If you want big city entertainment and shopping, live in a big city.
My kids love wilmington, and we live only a couple of hours away now and are moving there within the year. We stay with friends when we visit, and they have kids and they are extremely happy.
Wilmington is more upscale. Myrtle is a vacation destination and retirement mecca. Both have similar tax situations. I moved to Wilmington 17 years ago from NYCity. Wilmington has a historic downtown, great dining and shopping. Also theatre and movie industry is a plus. The beaches are superior to Myrtle.
