now that my flower beds are overrun with penny wort, i'm looking for a solution. caught a video on you tube about miner's lettuce in california and the wonders of it as well as the great taste.

looked suspiciously like my penny wort/i.e. dollar weed......

well, i yanked some out of the flower bed and took a bite (washing it, of course, first).....hmmmmm, crossed my mind i might die so decided not to do this anymore until i asked some native carolinians what they think.

ps - first thoughts on it - ummm, kind of nasty - maybe i bit into a too-mature leaf - it was rather large. maybe i should cook it - put dressing on it - but according to the people in california that are eating this , it's very good for you AND is said to be a great pain reliever as well. my back still hurts - could be the size of the plant i pulled out and bit.....

anyone want to weigh in? and if you like it, i'm opening a concession stand later this week......fresh from the flower beds of kure beach, it's MINER'S LETTUCE!

Check with some North Koreans, just read an article that many are now eating grass and leaves. Maybe they too have penny wort.
