Hi! My husband and I are in camp lejeune (jacksonville) and he's finally coming back home in a few days... since he always suprises me with adorable things, I thought it'd be nice to do something for him as a welcome home present... we pretty much just enjoy the beach and outlets or anywhere where we can just spend time together since our time is always limited... does anyone recommend some beaches or cute towns we can walk around in? I know he wouldn't want to travel over an hour so anywhere closer to town would be great... thank you!

I like Wilmington in general. Maybe see the Airlie Gardens and go to Carolina Beach. Or, check this article and especially Theodosia’s and The Taylor House near Wilmington:

About 10 years ago at this point, i got an ocean view room for $60 at the Sheraton on Atlantic Beach for Valentines day. That was back when both Jungle Land and Shooters were open, neither exists now. Might still be abkle to get a room in AB itself closer to the circle or in Emerald Isle, or in Cedar Point right before the EI bridge or in Swansboro. From Jacksonville, IMO, if you are willing to go to Wilmington, take the extra hour and go to Myrtle Beach. Plenty of walkable areas and military discounts at places like Ripley's. With all of the timeshares there you can even make a trip for gas and 2 hours of your time, to listen to a sales presentation.

Swansboro's downtown is cute and walkable for a quick excursion. I'd suggest the Icehouse for lunch, as they have waterview tables. It's maybe 15-20 minutes from Jacksonville.
