Daily Beast rank 30 cities in US by data provided from the most recently available unemployment rate (August 2011), median household income, and average debt. Data is from a recent report by Experian and the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Greenville ranks 4th brokest city Unemployment: 10.9% Median household income: $39,664 Average personal debt: 25,177 Average credit score: 730
Wilmington ranks 17th brokest city Unemployment: 10.5% Median household income: $44,825 Average personal debt: $24,716 Average credit score: 745
What is the methodology to this? Greenville has 28k+ at ECU and the ones that go to PCC that skew our numbers, compared to a "normal city". I know when I went to ECU, I didn't work, had a lot of debt (student loans) and obvious my household income was zilch. So if it includes the students, then it is wrongly skewed. But if it doesn't, then damn.

But there are plenty of college towns, plenty of colleges ECU size and bigger, that aren't on that list. So regardless if ECU is included that is still bad.

A third of the population in Greenville are college students. I didn't research the other cities, but 1/3 of a population who doesn't work/has a low paying job will skew the heck out of a ranking.
Not surprising since Wilmington and Greenville are two dead-end cities.
