Anyone with observations/experiences (positive and negative) of relocating to Ocean Isle, Sunset Beach, Shallotte, surrounding areas, please respond.

Considering relocating from Northern NC area town of less than 20k, would like to stay small--smaller ok, bigger NOT. Have own larger home, would consider downsizing; due to current economy (2012), home sale may not bring expected revenue, therefore need to economize. Serious-minded, focused Christian female, BA degree with experience in education, seeking positions in training/coaching field.

You can certainly find housing that will let you economize. But I am not sure about job prospects in the towns you mention. They are mainly beach and golf resort or retirement areas. Probably you should look for jobs in either Myrtle Beach or Wilmington. Alternatively, could you sell real estate?

Take a look at Supply, NC. It is small (14K) and home to Brunswick Community College and Brunswick Medical Center for possible employment. Also, very close to Holden Beach.

I agree not to mention Holden Beach has repeatedly been ranked in the Top Ten of U.S. Beaches (National Geographic Travelers Magazine), and as the #1 in U. S. Family Beaches (by Dr. Leatherman, Director, Laboratory of Coastal Research, Floridal International Univesity, in artcle in the American Profile Magazine, April 2012)
