Today's weather doesn't look great for the beach, as there are clouds and will be rain off and on.
However, it's worth nothing that there's a new option for staying overnight. There is a new motel on Highway 210 in Sneads Ferry called the Topsail Shores Inn. I have no interest in it, but here's the website:

It's small and basic looking, but it has a pool and is near restaurants. The rooms also have kitchenettes and coffee-makers. No prices are posted yet, but they say rooms are available.
