Carteret Schools - Special Needs (Beaufort: middle school, relocating to, education)

My son and I are relocating to Beaufort after this next school year. He will be entering middle school the following year, and I was hoping someone could fill me in on how the whole thing works in NC. I know services are different everywhere, but he does have an IEP, and he is on the autism spectrum. Are there any parents of kids who have gone through the special ed program in Carteret County that could give me the low-down?

I've been on their site before, and really only found a bunch of links to other sites. I guess what I'm looking for is the basics - do they have categorical classrooms in middle school? Do they have speech therapists and social workers on site, or are they traveling from building to building? What special programs do they offer? Do they offer ESY during the summer?

I know I will need to make an appointment with the school soon (which I may do when we are down again in a couple of weeks), but I was hoping to get a parent perspective.
