Hi! New here....want to visit beaches next week. Red tide has hit FL panhandle beaches bad. Any signs there? I know it's in Jacksonville, FL also, wondering if it's migrated north. Also which beaches are your favorites and why? We're considering Wrightsville- never been to coastal NC. Any suggestions? oh , yeah, it'll be next week - how's the weather? Thanks!!!!

Red tide?? N0. The last episode of red tide that I can recall was about 12-14 years ago. It is something we do not normally have to deal with.

Not sure what you want from a beach, but we have some uncrowded beaches especially this time of year. We have had stunning weather most of the summer except when it was hot in August and early September.

Our area is small towns, not a lot of night life, but plenty to do in the out of doors to let you fall asleep tired and happy at night.

Check out my Emerald Isle and Beaufort (http://coastalnc.org/beaufortnctravelguide - broken link) Travel guides or my area website.

Our biggest excitement this week was the raising of one of Blackbeard's cannons and the beginning of the Spot run and the fantastic Lobster meal at Saint Francis by the Sea Episcopal Church.

The beach near the Eastern Regional Access in Emerald Isle.
