Some heads up for for folk looking to come to North Eastern NC. This has been a large issue here and could make a difference if you didnt know about it. NC has a huge military presence is proud of that but due to complaints from Va beach about the jet noise, The navy planned a landing site near a huge wild life refuge in Washinton NC. If they force this through they want 35000 addition flights from hornet fighter craft a year. they plan to take 30000 acres of land on the boundry of the wildlife refuge and shoot and poison the snow geese and ducks. This is a rough interpretation to find out the facts go to Navy olf nc on the net. Lots of Law suites and political going ons, if this area could effect you plans to move here check it out.
Hi.
That is really sad that they want to destroy all that nature. One day there won't be any places left to enjoy these thing's. Look's like the government won't be happy until all the peaceful places are gone. Then where will everyone go for peace of mind? Best Wishes to the folk's that are fighting this issue.

The issue will not be helped by one cynical remark about the "government wanting to destroy all nature." The fact of the matter is, the military is going to be building this outer landing field. It has been shelved for too long and they are looking at all the possible locations to put it. The Navy Outer Landing Field has many factors to be taken into consideration, including noise level. That's the reason why they're looking at locations that is less inhabited by humans. Also, it only takes 2,000 acres to build the landing strip and the 30,000 acres for their buffer zone won't be destroyed. In fact that will permanently preserve the nature around it, preventing any further development in this buffer zone. The trees and wildlife will be further protected.
This debate will not be won by people saying that the outer landing field should not be built, because in the end, it will be built. The question is what is the best approach to this process that will have the best net benefit for everyone. Do your research before you post any cynical remarks. Appeal to your congressman, let him or her know your concerns and get all your facts together if you really want to be listened to. Complaining without grounded facts has never stopped a construction, so come up with enough good arguments and perhaps the site will be put in Virginia.
