Can anyone recommend a buyers agent that gives a cash back rebate at closing? I have searched Google with no luck.

I live in Raleigh and we are looking for a beach place. Still open to an area. Trying to keep it under a 3 hour drive from NW Raleigh.

1. With only a very quick search, I'm finding some indication that this practice may be illegal in NC. This link to a 2007 thread should get you started.

2. Since this is one of the largest purchases you will make in your entire life, wouldn't you rather have the BEST realtor on your side instead of the one who needs the business so badly that they are willing to buy your business by handing you back some of their commission?

Hi. I appreciate your comment.

But it is allowed in NC. I have used an agent in Raleigh that gives you the rebate. As long as it is on the HUD its legal. I do a lot of the groundwork so the agent told me I definitely eared the rebate becasue it was one of the easiest transactions she had to deal with.

And saying they are not going to be a good agent is a bit of an assumption. The cash back agent I used blew away the full cost agent I used on my first house.

FWIW, I could not find a buyer's agent in the coastal region who advertises cash back. Perhaps the practice is not needed here or there are more restrictions on second home purchases.

Personally, I would rather just get the best deal possible, but I hope you find a good agent.
