Staying in Cedar Pointe this weekend. Looking for nice dinner out with husband. I am a foodie so I prefer non chains, fresh local ingredients and water front dining. Price is not an issue for this dinner but I don't want to overpay for sub par food.Fresh seafood is a must on the menu as well as abc permits. Would love to hear from locals and visitors.

We liked the Icehouse in Swansboro, although I can't say that it's the best place: http://www.swansboroicehouse.com/dinner1.htm

I'd stick with the simplest preparations (like the Chef's Market Platter), and avoid the blackened things or the cream sauce things. It's quite small, so I'd make a reservation. There is a nice river view.

I've always been fond of Raps, but haven't ate their in a while: Home

Sanitary and Capt Bills are over rated, IMO. Just for tourists. In Swansboro I have friends that have spoken highly of Nicky's and Riverside, but I've never stopped in Swansboro to eat myself.

What about this Beaufort Grocery Company people are raving about on my home forum in Raleigh. Any locals frequent this place?

Is Bistro by the Sea still open? Went there a few years back with some friends and loved it.

A couple of places that my husband and I always go to when we stay in Salter Path are Mythos Waterfront Grill and Chefs 105, both in Morehead City. They never disappoint us. Bistro by the Sea is still open but we have found that they rush you through your meal and offer some of the same dishes that we bought years & years ago. I don't think they have stayed competitive or creative.
