I'm looking to relocate from New Bern to Morehead City or Beaufort because I want to have more to do and be around more like-minded people. (A little about me: young professional; graduate level education; moderate to liberal political views; very interested in the arts and cultural events; very active lifestyle). Would I encounter the same roadblocks in Morehead that I get in New Bern? Thanks!

lahicks86-Can you help me to understand what you mean by, "roadblocks"? Is someone or something prohibiting you from doing/being something?
I've lived in MHD and Carteret County for over 30 years. I know "bunches" of folks just like how you have described yourself. Heck-We have 4 colleges/universities here and a host of scientific/research entities. Arts? All over the place.
Maybe a bit more clarity on your part would be helpful.
God Bless,
Bill

We might get a better idea what to tell you if we knew where you came from originally. I don't think you'll find major differences between the two in terms of culture. Most of Eastern NC is about the same culturally with the exception of Wilmington and the military influence around the bases. If you're a young, single graduate educated professional I would suggest taking a bigger leap and trying a major metropolitan area outside of the South.
