Looking for Feedback on Retiring in the Sneads Ferry and/or Swansboro areas

Certainly gated communities are more expensive and the homes are typically large family-sized homes. However, there are numerous single-story houses in Swansboro that are under $200K. You do not need to be in a gated community to be in a safe community. I believe you can find affordable places in Swansboro.

While I have only visited Swansboro, I believe you will find it a friendly and relaxing place to live. The choice of an all-ages community or a 55+ place is available. However, The Villages is small and shows only a few listings.

You may also want to check out Southport. My husband and I bought a home last year and will be moving down full time in 3 weeks. We love it there...small, friendly, loads of charm and close to wonderful beaches. Also only 30 miles from Wilmington.

Agree...I just moved to Oak Island ( 5 minutes from Southport) and love the small town feel, friendly people, and beautiful beaches...
